CHA Summer 2012

What a time to remember....the people we met and all the incredible cards, pages and art we saw. Wonderful new lines from lots of companies we all love.
If you read the Facebook page, you will know that I did get into the Tim Holtz class. We went a day earlier than planned, as I got a wait list email. You take your chances trying to get in, but we did. All I had to do was sell tickets to a concert I was to attend in Louisville (my neighbors  Diana Krall , whom they got to see in my place). Then we had to go a day earlier, so I could be in line by 7:00am...hoping for a spot in class. The shuttle was late that morning, and I still had to check in and get my badge before signing in and getting my wait list ticket. I was #8 in line. Then the most wonderful thing happened......they took 8 people from wait list into the class. AHHHHHHHH, I made it in and the class had already begun. We had to play catch up with everyone else, so I had no time to be awestruck with our instructor (TIM friggin' Holtz)!!

It was a work of art we created. Here are photos of the project. What a smile he gives so easily, and patiently stands for photos with every person who asks. 57 and still get tongue tied. (We learn things about ourselves every day.)
More photos to come.

Christmas in July Crop

As usual we had a great time at our All Day Crop, which was Christmas in July. We had 20 talented & fun ladies. That was above our usual limit because we were able to rent an empty space 2 doors down from our studio. That space is now rented to a nice couple who does Framing, so no more large Crops like that one. But it was fun while the extra space lasted.

 Some of our fun group....

Complete with Yule Log for dessert! mmmmmmm
Now off to CHA and all new "toys"!
Lee is running the studio until we return. Thanks Lee!

M&T week of July 10th.

Have you seen the new Little Miss paper series from Bo Bunny? It is adorable. I used the roses paper from that series for my M&T this week. I had offered this at the Literacy Crop on Saturday. Many of our card makers were asking for it to be available this week too, so here it is.
I did change it up a little switching the teapot paper and back strip with a Kaisercraft piece.
The Doily and Teapot die cuts are from Cottage Cutz. This is a $2.00 M&T, since it's a bit of a repeat for the ladies whom attended the Literacy Crop. Which was a huge success by the way.........Cindy & Gayle do a great job organizing that. Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth to do the M&T.

Make & Take week of July 4th.

I'm not sure how many people send out Patriotic cards, but I decided it was a nice one to do for 4th. of July.I did use Tammy Hershberger's (Stamp Happy), card as starting idea.
The stamp is a Flourishes design, Patriotism on Parade, which I stamped on a Pink Paislee "Block Party" paper. The background red, white and blue print card stock is from Peebles, "Let Freedom Ring". The deep red card stock matting is from Tim Holtz collection of Kraft Core. A Martha Stewart button punch was used, along with Divine Twine in red, white & blue colors. The embossed image of fireworks on the printed paper, is from Darice. I stamped with Denim colored Adirondak, and Sky Blue Memento inks. Cost is $3.00 and since I left it blank, you can use it as birthday card also.

Summer Fresh - Simple Stories

Simple Stories has become a favorite paper line with me. The colors are always rich, no matter the palette. This series is called Summer Fresh. I know one of our designers is working on a layout to hang in the studio. Check back to see it posted.

Pat Whitaker used some of the Summer Fresh papers to make the card and tag shown here. She made these at our last Late Create. The image is a digi stamp and I'm sorry I had forgotten what she said the name of it was. Pat is a very talented lady.

Bo Bunny- Little Miss

The new paper series Little Miss, by Bo Bunny, is delightful. It is totally feminine. I love the roses all over, with soft pinks, rich greens and browns. The 12x12 papers are .99 each.

Graphic 45 - A Ladies Diary

This new Graphic 45 , A Ladies Diary, series reminds me of the 1920's & 30's. The colors are rich, which I like. Great for both scrapbookers and card makers.

POW Glitter Paper, American Crafts

Have you seen this glitter paper? It is smooth and the glitter does not rub off, plus the paper is actually "pliable", not stiff.  If you have a solid type punch (nothing delicate ), it will actually punch through this. Great with die cuts too. We have some beautiful designs for wedding cards. It is $1.99 for 12x12 sheet, but well worth it.
