Merry Christmas! From Dolly & Mary

We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Holiday, filled with happiness, family and friends, and blessings!
I had made my Christmas cards earlier this year (with some help from my sisters), and was quite pleased with myself for being ahead. All those cards were lost in the fire, and I just could not bring myself to redo them. Instead I started working on some Thank You cards to send out. While I am still working on them, I wanted to have something to put on the site. I wanted to say how blessed we are to have so many friends supporting our hope to re-open the studio. This card was a post on Pinterest and Sue Lis ran the saying off for me. The card stock is Bazzil, and the key is from Spellbinders, a company that has been so kind after the fire.
Thank you Stacy Caron and Ken Oliver for believing in us and offering some comfort.
We have made candy to sell (with the wonderful help of many friends). On my trip home I will bring back more peanut brittle, if anyone has become addicted to it...lol
Thank You to everyone who has grieved with us and shown so much love and kindness!
Enjoy your family and friends, and don't forget why we celebrate.
Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
If you want your e-mail address on our customer list again, please send a note to us and we can pick it up from that.       maketimetocreate@sigecom.net

New Memories with Michelle

We have 1 new memory to hold on to. Michelle Zindorf was here and what a wonderful time we shared. Here are a few of those memories and her lovely cards, and what a great group of ladies too. We admired our cards and I just thought, "wow, I made this!"
Michelle is an incredible teacher and so much fun to be with. Even though we had to relocate to do the class, everyone was so thankful to be part of it. Thank you Michelle, and Good Luck with your "retirement"! We may do a road trip to be with you again.

Michelle Zindorf - this Saturday, Dec. 8th.

We have waited a long time to have Michelle Zindorf with us. She is a master at brayering techniques. There are 2 spots left (as of last week), so don't miss out, as this is her last stop.
You can go to her web site to register, Freedom In Creating.
If you are registered and have not received the address of our event, send an e-mail to  maketimetocreate@sigecom.net

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us. We feel your pain as well. If you want to get back on the e-mail list, then send a note to the above address and I can "pick it up" from that message. Blessings to you all!

Michelle Zindorf is still coming to visit....

Some of you have been anxiously awaiting a visit from Michelle Zindorf. She is an expert in brayer techniques, and has been planning a visit with us for some time. Since the fire I ahve been tryiong to locate a place in Newburgh to hold this event. I finally heard today that we have a place (which is booked through her site, and had 1 spot left yesterday).
If you are registered for the Beginners and/or Advanced Brayer Classes, Michelle will be contacting you shortly. The classes will be held at #11 State St. in Newburgh.
These classes are pre-booked and paid, so we cannot allow any walk-ins. If you are registered with Michelle and do not receive a message, please contact her through her site  "Freedom In Creating".
If you are registered and have been following her work, you may know this is her last stop on her touring, and we would like to make is special for her. If you want to make a card for her, please do and bring it along to share.
I did have the phone forwarded, so you may leave a message or send an e-mail to:  maketimetocreate@sigecom.net

It will be so nice to see you next Saturday, Dec. 8th. if you are registered.

Things to be thankful for....

I thought it would be appropriate to post some of the happier times we have shared at MTTC. We are clinging to these memories, waiting for some sort of routine to take hold again.
We so appreciate all of our loyal customers and friends, all the people who have poured out their kindness to ALL of the businesses that were lost to the fire.
As I sat in front of our studio with friends, I was reminded of so many wonderful things. It isn't just Mary & I that are wounded, an entire community of women who love to create are also saddened. As they spoke of the friendships they have formed at our studio, it was clear they felt our pain. Some called it their "home away from home". They knew that they could always find comfort there and friendship.
One friend had gone to her final check up (after having radiation for breast cancer), to have another lady she had just met walk in to "be with her".
These ladies have laughed and cried together. They have trusted their lives in stories to others who shared a common love...paper crafting. Women will always find comfort in being together & sharing no matter where they are. But a place such as ours is indeed a gift we miss.
Your prayers are appreciated, as is your support and kindness. We are able to check our e-mail from home, and I will continue to look each day when time permits. Hugs from Dolly & Mary.....

Thank You for prayers...

I'm not quite sure what to say at this point, as many of you know our studio was destroyed in a fire early this morning. The entire complex is gone, all the businesses are gone.
We just wanted to thank those whom have responded with kind words and prayers, and let you know how much it means to us.
Thank you Hannah & Melanie at Doodlebug for your support and as always, your friendship.
To all our loyal customers and friends, thank you for your prayers and calls of support.
Many of you have asked what you can do, and the one thing we are asking for are recent photos taken inside our studio. Our insurance company would like anything recent. If you made it to our Monday evening event with Ken Oliver, perhaps you have some we could use.

Although it is too soon to know what our plans are, we are grateful for your constant support, prayers and caring!

Hugs to you all........Dolly & Mary

Designer Corner- Melody Poff

Melody has created some lovely last minute summer pages. Then went right to Fall, and then on to Christmas pages.
The summer pages are done with My Minds Eye, The Sweetest Thing. She used Little Yellow Bike for both Fall and Christmas pages, Acorn Hollow, and Dress It Up Holiday collection.

Her beloved "Bee-Gals", as she calls them, are subjects in many of her pages. She also has some fun friends that she "frames" quit often. Her pages reflect the fun they obviously have at all their getaways.

Tag Samples from Ken Oliver

These are some of the tags Ken Oliver (from Spellbinders), will be sharing at his M&T and demos on Monday, Nov. 19th. from 6 to 9 pm.  Many of you are calling in to register, but it is an Open House type affair.
What we would ideally like to see happen is for a different group of people to come each hour, and then everyone who wants to come through may do so. There is allot of excitement with his visit, so we would love for as many people as possible to be able to do Ken's M&T, and see some of the D-Lites demonstrated. You do not have to bring any supplies, it will all be there for you to do one tag. We will have many of the new D-Lites there to sell, and of course more Spellbinders dies as well.

M&Ts week of Nov. 6th.

This week we begin our month long salute to Northwoods stamps. Each week we will have 3 cards for a M&T, beginning each Tuesday when we open, in the month of November. The first set is with the lighthouse and Church, shown here. The third card is with the Locomotive. I feel like I should warn you that the board that was colored by professional (and very talented one too), is much, much nicer than my coloring. I have used a combination of COPICs and Distress Markers, since I had to set up 3 card kits to work from. I believe Pat told me she uses Tombow Markers for her coloring. But let's face it, most of the talent is what makes the colors alive. I salute all the talented colorists out there!! I hope to be nearly as good someday.

Special Guest from Spellbinders- Ken Oliver

We are very excited to have Ken Oliver visiting us on Monday, Nov. 19th. from 6 to 9 pm.
He will be making a tag with us and showing some of the new D-Lites from Spellbinders. If you haven't ordered yours, stop by as soon as you can.
Ken is a member of the Inspiration Team, of Spellbinders, and you can see his work there, or go to his blog "Vertigo Graphics", (along with Jeremy's talent), and see some original works of art.
I'm hoping his lovely mother will also stop by, and take some credit for a wonderful guy!

Designers Corner- Teresa Meyer

Teresa's work is romantic & has a vintage feel. Here she has used a window die cut from Poppystamps and an image stamp from Northwoods, to have a peak outside a window.
Then in the other one she shows the town. Paper is from Little Yellow Bike.
Our Northwoods stamps are all but gone, with the M&Ts starting this week. 3 cards using Northwoods Stamps each week for the month of November. That should give you plenty of ideas for Christmas. Lots of glitter coming up!

Northwoods Stamps Have Arrived

The big box came yesterday and we got them all in and on display today. These are so detailed, and remind you of every Christmas the way you dream it to be.  So much snow to brighten them. Maybe the snow reminds me of past Christmases, because I came here from the north where there really is snow in the winter.
There is a display board to see samples of each of the stamps we received. The family run company is from Stillwater MN ( a lovely town), where snow is abundant. Pat colors them and they print off the copies. She used to color each card for each board, but it became too much as they grew.
We will be doing some M&Ts with these stamps over November and December, so you will have loads of ideas for your cards. Come by and get yours before they disappear.

Advent Calendar Class

Kimmay taught this heartwarming Advent Calendar last Saturday, and all of the participants were very pleased with how they turned out. They used Simple Stories- Handmade Holidays for these. We carry the entire line of that one.
In her next class she has chosen Winter Wonderland from My Minds Eye. That one is set for Friday, Nov. 9th. at 6:00pm. Cost is $40.00 Call to register by October 26th., so we can order enough of the calendars. 490 4790

Little Yellow Bicycle, Christmas

This is one sample. Cost is $12.00 Call to register. 812 490 4790

M&T Oct.16-26th

These are the M&Ts for the next 2 weeks. I might pull the tree one to do as a demo, as I had shown several ladies the Church Stained Glass card, and would like to do that one. So at least the other 3 will be part of the M&Ts starting tomorrow. October 16th.
As always bring your adhesive, scissors, pop dots and glue dots. Any basic supply you would normally use to make cards will be good. All 4 of the cards will be in a kit. The 4 M&Ts are $10.00 and you may do them all at once, or 2 one week and finish the other 2 the next.
The dress form is a Just Rite Stamp, and I got the idea from the gallery. So I would like to give Kathy Jones credit for "lifting" her idea.
The tree stamp and fence die are from Impression Obsession. The window, cat & banner die cuts are from Poppystamps. The papers are from My Minds Eye (The Sweetest Thing), if you didn't guess. Also some Simple Stories Fresh Breeze, and Tim Holtz Distress Coredination was used. The lovely pink is from Marks Finest Papers, and that die is a My Favorite Things.

Designer Corner- Melody Poff

Melody has an eye for detail, and designs some of the prettiest pages I have ever seen.
These 2 page layouts are made with My Minds Eye, The Sweetest Thing paper. She also uses die cuts from Spellbinders, Memory Box, Poppystamps and some Martha Stewart punches. All the pretty things that lead to another beautiful layout.

New Poppystamps Die Cuts

I just had to make a card using one of the new Poppystamp die, the stained glass window. There are a few different designs, but my favorite was this one. I used vellum and temporarily taped down the die cut image, so I could follow the lines. I colored it from the back (very important), with COPICs. I'm sure there are several other coloring tools that would work too, but my COPICs are always handy.
Then I added permanent adhesive to put down the first die cut shape of a copper card stock. I was originally going to leave it like that, but after die cutting black to go behind it (thanks Lee), I placed the black image just off center of the copper a bit. This effect made it look like a shadow and really popped the stained glass look.

Here are some other die cuts we received. Some are already gone, but we are ordering again. Let us know what you would like.

Her pages are always fun and the people in them are having fun! The MME collection has 40 different papers, and all of them are gorgeous. There are matching embellishments of pearls, tags, stamps and sticker words, and all are right in the display so you can coordinate the entire page at one stop. Look for Kimmay's upcoming classes using designer tape and more of My Minds Eye.
